The bones are attached to the muscles. The nerves in the muscles give the muscles the signal to move. The muscles contract when the nervous system sends commands to the skeletal muscles. The movement at the joints and the bones is made possible by the contraction of the muscles.
You should also know that the bones are grouped into two categories: the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeleton. The appendicular skeleton is responsible for the movement while the bones of the axial skeleton give protection to the inner organs.
The limbs and the girdles makes up the appendicular skeleton while the skull, vertebral column, thoracic cage comprises the axial skeleton.
